Kapa Haka

Kapa Haka is an option for our tamariki to be a part of. Every year we take part in the local Pae Tamariki Manawatū Kapa Haka Festival at the Regent, Palmerston North. Practices are weekly or at times that suit our Kapa Haka tutors. There are times where we perform in and out of school as needed.

Superarts Competition - Whakataetae ā-kura

At Feilding Intermediate we compete and celebrate the arts through a number of Superarts events.  These are held with other Intermediate schools including PNINS, Ross Intermediate, Masterton, Levin, Monrad, Rutherford Junior High and Whanganui Intermediate.   Students receive specific training prior to these events and work closely with their tutors to prepare their items and routines to ‘competition’ standard. Superarts events occur over two years and include: wearable arts, dance, drama, choir and Kapa Haka.

Music Lessons - Akoranga pūoro

We have a number of music tutors available to do group music tuition in instruments such as drums, guitar and piano.  Parents are invoiced for their child’s involvement in these sessions with the external providers. Lessons are based at school during school hours.

Wearable Arts - Toi pūeru

Wearable arts is offered as an extension activity.  Children are supported in the technology suite to create inspired and innovation designs.  We have a showcase each year to celebrate children’s learning in this area.
