Teacher - Ngā pouako
Kia Ora. My name is Nicki Baker. I have been teaching for over 21 years and have been fortunate to experience many areas of the teaching profession, from challenging the minds of Intermediate students, to nurturing New Entrants in those crucial first days, and everything in between.
This is my first year in the classroom at FIS. For the last two years, I have trained and worked as a Mathematics Support Teacher (MST). In the past I have worked extensively in literacy development and am excited to be involved in literacy leadership at FIS this year.
I believe the key to learning success is a positive, collaborative and stimulating classroom that fosters a growth mind-set and introduces students to real life learning. When students feel respected, happy and valued they are motivated to learn, to embrace their individuality and to be the best that they can be.
I live in Feilding with my husband, three children, and our dog Freckles. I love travelling, spending time at the beach and reading.
