Teacher - Ngā pouako
Kia Ora
I am Veronica Labuschagne, better known as Mrs L. I hail from the sunny, humid shores of Durban, South Africa, where I started my career as a teacher many years ago. I have been in New Zealand for 6 years and in this time have experienced a range of teaching situations: from being a teacher's aide to teaching high school and former refugees in adult education. All these experiences have helped me develop further as a teacher and person. I first joined FIS in 2017 as a relief teacher, returned in 2019 for a stint in the cooking room and now I am a full-time classroom teacher.
I genuinely consider myself a lifelong learner and know that I will be learning along with my students. I am an enthusiastic spectator and always encourage students to get involved in activities both in and out of school. I enjoy supporting my students and my own children in their endeavours.
I am dedicated, caring, and compassionate. I want the best for all my students and focus on building relationships with them and their families. Making time to listen and connect with each student allows me to develop knowledge of each one and this will enable me to provide an engaging learning environment.
