Teacher - Ngā pouako
Kia ora, my name is Danielle Sowden and I am new to FIS this year. For the past two years, I have been teaching at Ngatea Primary School in the North Waikato, and recently made the move back to the Manawatū to be closer to family and friends. I love being in the classroom and really enjoy getting to see students developing their own passions and interests. I believe that developing a sense of self and personal identity is a huge part of the learning process and I really enjoy getting to see our tamaraki make these strides. I am particularly passionate about the arts and social sciences and love exploring these within my classroom.
When not at school I spend my time making art or being outside, gardening, hiking and keeping up with my puppy, Kahlo. My partner and I are in the process of building a tiny house on wheels so this also takes up a lot of our spare time!
